Seamless Pattern Creator
Drop in one of your SVG designs, or up to eight, and get a pattern that repeats without a visible seam. Choose a layout, recolor it from one of our palettes, then take away an SVG or a PNG. Free, no sign-up, and your files never leave your computer.
The same seed always gives the same pattern. Write it down if you like one.
Background
3600 by 3600 pixels, at 300 DPI. Twelve inches is a Cricut mat and what most print services ask for.
The single tile is the one to take into Procreate, Illustrator or a print service, where you set the repeat yourself.
Questions
What does seamless mean here?
A motif that runs off one edge of the tile comes back in on the opposite edge, in exactly the right place. Repeat the tile and the two halves meet, so there is no visible grid and no empty lane between tiles. The preview shows three tiles across so you can see the joins.
Can I use several designs in one pattern?
Yes, up to eight. They take turns across the layout rather than being drawn at random, so two designs alternate evenly instead of one happening to appear six times.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The whole tool runs in your browser. Your SVG never leaves your computer, which is also why there is no sign-up and no limit on how many patterns you make.
What is the difference between the tile and the pattern?
The tile is one square that repeats. It is what you take into Procreate, Illustrator or a print service, where you set the repeat yourself. The pattern is a finished sheet with the tile already repeated across it, ready to use as an image.
What is the seed for?
It is the number the scattering and the random turns are built from. The same seed always gives exactly the same pattern, so if you find one you like you can write the number down and come back to it.
Can I change the colors?
Yes, in two ways. Pick each color by hand, or choose one of the 53 free color palettes on this site and have the whole pattern recolored into it, background included. The colors are matched by how light they are, so your design still reads the way you drew it.
